Attachment theory informs mental health professionals of the vital ingredients needed to forge strong and secure bonds within marriages on emotional and sexual levels. Love, Sex and Attachment: Building and Strengthening Emotional Closeness in Couples will help mental health professionals be an incarnational presence in hurting lives and motivate clients to take steps toward healing.<\/p>\n

  1. Describe ways that securely attached marital partners approach their spouses in times of emotional and sexual needs<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Study\u00a0<\/span>fundamental<\/span>\u00a0principles of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to address the patterned barriers to emotional and sexual intimacy in married couple<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Discuss essential therapist and client ingredients needed to guide couples to take emotional risks in the context of enactments<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Understand and address barriers to sexual intimacy in marriage by catalyzing the power of attachment in the couple\u2019s bond<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Identify specific attachment needs that\u00a0<\/span>can be<\/span>\u00a0violated through an attachment injury, along with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the specialized tools required to mend these (<\/span>learners<\/span>\u00a0will become familiar with the steps of the Attachment Injury Resolution Model)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n

    In this session, Dr. May will discuss the connection between intimacy and the emotional bond of a couple and how to foster healing around intimacy wounds created by unresolved arguments, emotional disconnection, and betrayals.<\/p>\n

    LSAM 111: Healing the Wounds of Sexual Betrayal in Couples Therapy<\/strong><\/p>\n

    In this session, Dr. May will provide an attachment framework best to understand the attachment significance of betrayals and affairs. Mental health professionals will learn the different types of an affair and the phases of an affair.<\/p>\n
