About This Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Thousands of people seek help from professional counselors and coaches for their low self-esteem and confidence each year. Even some of the most famous public figures in the world, like Albert Einstein, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Michelle Obama, Meryl Streep, and Tom Hanks, have stated that they suffer or have symptoms of what is known as \u201cImposter Syndrome,\u201d or the feeling that a person does not deserve the position or responsibility that they have been given. According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 70% of U.S. adults may experience Imposter Syndrome at least once in their lifetime. Highlighting the most up-to-date scientific research, proven evidence-based treatment strategies, and emerging approaches, this workshop will deepen participants\u2019 understanding of Imposter Syndrome and equip them with the most current, evidence-based therapeutic practices to utilize with clients.<\/p>\n

Learning Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Participants will\u2026<\/p>\n

  1. Identify the types, common triggers, and recognize the effect of Imposter Syndrome on an individual\u2019s quality of life.<\/li>\n
  2. Assess the hidden causes and catalysts of Imposter Syndrome and determine how modern-day challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic issues, racial inequality, etc., have contributed to Imposter Syndrome.<\/li>\n
  3. Develop strategies and establish a toolbox of techniques for coping with and combating Imposter Syndrome to feel more successful and fulfilled at work and in life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    IPS 101: Assessing and Identifying Imposter Syndrome Triggers<\/strong>
    \nMark Crear, Ph.D.<\/p>\n

    Imposter syndrome often manifests as a cyclical pattern triggered by specific events or situations. This lesson will equip mental health professionals and coaches with essential assessment tools to identify and understand clients’ unique triggers. By recognizing these patterns, clinicians and coaches can develop targeted interventions to disrupt negative thought processes and empower clients to challenge self-doubt and build resilience.<\/p>\n

    IPS 102: Working with Trauma-Induced Imposter Syndrome<\/strong>

    Trauma can profoundly shape an individual’s sense of self, often manifesting as imposter syndrome. This lesson will explore the complex interplay between trauma and imposter syndrome, examining how past experiences can contribute to feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Mental health professionals and coaches will gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by trauma survivors experiencing imposter syndrome, enabling them to provide tailored interventions to promote healing and resilience.<\/p>\n

    IPS 103: Reframing Imposter Syndrome for Peak Performance<\/strong>

    Imposter syndrome, a pervasive and debilitating experience, significantly impacts clients\u2019 self-efficacy and overall well-being. This lesson will equip mental health professionals and coaches with the tools to understand the cognitive distortions underlying imposter syndrome and to employ evidence-based techniques to assist clients in reframing their self-narrative. By challenging negative thought patterns and building self-compassion, clinicians and coaches can empower clients to overcome feelings of inadequacy and achieve their full potential.<\/p>\n

    Course Presenter<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Mark Crear, Ph.D., is a certified counselor, performance and mental health coach, motivational speaker, author, and diversity and inclusion expert. He has 25 years of experience working in multicultural \u2013 diversity and inclusion, performance management, and higher education. Dr. Crear has extensive experience in online education with a focus on course development and academic operations. His skill sets include multicultural competency, diversity and inclusion, racial reconciliation, life, relationship, organizational and performance coaching, strategic planning, project management, and team building. Dr. Crear is the founder of In The Zone Coaching, Counseling, and Consulting Group, and the executive director of the American Association of Christian Counselors\u2019 Multicultural division.<\/p>\n
