About This Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, client-centered approach to <\/span>facilitating<\/span> behavioral change. Originally developed by William Miller and Stephen Rollnick, MI provides a structured yet relational method for increasing motivation, resolving ambivalence, and enhancing engagement. This course introduces participants to the foundational principles and practices of MI, including the core Spirit of MI: partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation. It emphasizes practical strategies for promoting autonomy and collaborative care. Whether serving in a clinical setting or in a professional coaching role, mental health professionals often <\/span>encounter<\/span> the temptation to \u201cfix\u201d or direct clients, which can unintentionally hinder engagement and long-term growth. MI offers a framework that respects client autonomy and supports informed decision-making, aligning well with a biblically informed view of human dignity, responsibility, and relational care. This training equips Christian counselors and coaches to integrate MI principles into conversations about change while <\/span>maintaining<\/span> ethical boundaries and clearly defined scopes of practice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
