$69.00

-

There are no perfect marriages, and all relationships can contain some hurt and suffering. However, most of the training mental health professionals receive to help troubled couples does not specifically address domestic abuse issues nor identify the subtle dynamics of other emotionally destructive attitudes and behaviors. Abuse, Trauma, and the Emotionally Destructive Marriage 2.0 will provide mental health professionals with practical tools to recognize, diagnose, and develop treatment strategies with couples who may be in an abusive, traumatic, or emotionally destructive relationship.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify the difference between a difficult marriage, a disappointing marriage, and a destructive marriage, and know when the line is crossed
  2. Discuss three, common mistakes people-helpers make when working with this population that cause more harm to individuals and couples in distress
  3. Recognize four, distinct stages of therapy and the goals necessary in each stage for destructive patterns to be broken so the marriage can be healed

Presenter

Leslie Vernick, M.S.W.
