Course Lessons:

DV 101: Domestic Violence: The Scope and Depth of the Problem

Barry Lord, Psy.D., LMFT

As a counselor, it is highly probable that one will encounter clients who are either a domestic violence victim or a convicted perpetrator of family violence. Dr. Lord discusses what domestic violence consists of and offers valuable skills to spot this type of abuse. He addresses the various types of domestic abuse, followed by facts and statistics of this abuse in action. In hopes to bring awareness and protection of this abuse, Dr. Lord examines the different aspects of domestic violence.

DV 102: Abuse and the Church

Barry Lord, Psy.D., LMFT

In Part 2, Dr. Lord takes a closer look at the effects of abuse on, and within, the Church. Through testimony and Scripture, Dr. Lord addresses the false notion that Scripture can be twisted to excuse domestic abuse. A clear interpretation of the word “submit” is uncovered as it relates to power and control. Family violence is explained in detail and then addressed as it relates to the Church.

DV 103: Stalking

Barry Lord, Psy.D., LMFT

Stalking is the willful, malicious, and repeated following and harassing of another person that threatens his or her safety. Dr. Lord examines key constructs related to stalking, including common victims, statistics, its relation to domestic violence, and the various types of stalking behaviors.
