About This Course
The interest in faith as an aspect of whole person wellness has been gaining ground over the last few years. Lately, faith assessments are now required by medical professions to be given to each patient. This has now created the question of how to incorporate a client’s faith into clinical mental health practice in an ethical manner without imposing values. In this course, participants will engage with various ethics codes that describe the need for faith to be incorporated into treatment. Furthermore, utilizing the SAHMSA Wellness Wheel, participants will learn how to assess faith and spirituality in a client and incorporate it into treatment without crossing any ethical boundary.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Describe various mental health ethics codes that require a faith component to be incorporated into treatment.
- Apply steps to assess for faith and spirituality utilizing the SAMHSA Wellness Wheel.
- Outline how to utilize faith in treatment with clients.
