This course is designed to help counselors better understand the different types of abuse, the healing process and treatment of sexual trauma, and how post-traumatic symptoms can be stabilized when dealing with complex, relational trauma, both in the initial phase of counseling as well as the trauma processing. Sexual Abuse 2.0 examines the signs and symptoms of abuse, as well as assessment parameters, counseling strategies, treatment considerations, and biblical solutions for those who work with this population.

SA 101: Surviving Sexual Abuse: On the Threshold of Hope

In this session, Dr. Langberg provides awareness and insight to equip the Church to face the reality of sexual trauma, understand its profound impact, and know the basics of how to protect the vulnerable. Different types of abuse and their long-term consequences on victims’ lives are addressed. The presentation also provides strategies for Christians to respond to victims of sexual violence in a healing and helpful way.

Overcoming sexual abuse is a journey that can take many years. Whether the abuse happened once or multiple times, the healing process is often lonely and difficult. In this presentation, Shannon Ethridge shares her personal testimony as a backdrop to a message of encouragement and hope for those who have experienced the trauma of abuse.

SA 103: Restoring the Shattered Self: Treatment of Complex Trauma
