This course provides the learner with the basic skills and core principles necessary for various types of work in the field of crisis and trauma care. From theoretical concepts, assessment techniques, standard protocols, ethics and spiritual integration, each session is designed to offer meaningful insights and practical information.
Crisis Response & Trauma Care 201: Acute Stress, Grief & Trauma Care
There are a number of critical factors that determine the intensity, duration and scope of any traumatic event, including grief and loss issues, anxiety and depression, relationship attachment, survivor guilt and how to foster resiliency. Each presentation builds on basic knowledge and skills and covers such topics as impact dynamics, counseling strategies, specific methods and techniques and appropriate self-care.
Crisis Response & Trauma Care 301: Domestic & Community Crisis Response
Crises and other traumatic events often take place within the home, workplace, school, or the broader community. The devastation of crime, acts of violence, sexual assault, accidents, and even unrecognized losses produce significant consequences. Presentations not only address these issues, but also look at the vital role played by families, clergy, counselors and the Church in the delivery of care.
