• MMT 101: Getting to the Heart of Caring RelationshipsWhat is Marriage Mentoring? Marriage can be a difficult journey. What can we do to relieve some of the burdens on newly married couples to help them avoid serious problems later in life? In this lesson, we will discuss how the concept of Marriage Mentoring was developed, how it works, and how you can launch a Marriage Mentoring Program in your ministry.
• MMT 102: Making a Heart ShiftSmall changes can deeply affect the connection felt between two people. A simple “heart shift” can rejuvenate a relationship. In this lesson, we will introduce you to the concept of a heart shift and teach you how they can greatly enhance the connection between married partners.
• MMT 103: Couple CommunicationCommunication meltdowns can negatively affect even the strongest marriages. How do you say what you mean to the person who needs to know the most? How do you understand what you hear? In this course, we will discuss concepts that marriage mentors can demonstrate that will improve the way married people speak and listen to one another.
• MMT 104: Experiencing God TogetherSpiritual intimacy between marriage partners can be difficult for any couple. Learning how to commit to God’s favor and blessing for your relationship is a skill that can benefit both marriage mentors and mentorees. In this course, we will discuss three types of intimacies, and how to develop and model spiritual intimacy.
• MMT 105: Languages of LoveMany couples have a hard time understanding why they have problems when they are obviously “in love.” What they might not realize is that loving your spouse is simply not enough to hold a marriage together; you must love them in their language. We will discuss how knowledgeable marriage mentors can help couples unlock the mystery of how to give love to their individual partners, thus aiding them greatly in strengthening their marriage relationships.
• MMT 106: Facing Marital Pain and DisaffectionMarried couples in serious pain can be difficult for counselors and mentors to deal with. You might wonder if particularly difficult marriages can be saved at all. The answer is, yes; God can always make a way for relationships to work. In this lesson, you will learn some tactics for dealing with couples that are mired in pain and seem to have no hope.
• MMT 107: Parenting and Family RelationsContrary to popular belief, having children is not a viable option for mending a marriage. In fact, though being a parent is an incredible experience, marital relationships become even more strained when children enter the family. Many couples become so absorbed into the lives of their children that they allow themselves far too little time to nurture their marriage. This lesson discusses the delicate balancing act that parents must perform in order to maintain their relationships with their children and with each other.
• MMT 108: Facing Infidelity and BetrayalInfidelity is a leading cause of marital fracture, but some couples ARE able to recover from such serious adversity. How do couples come away from betrayal stronger than they were before? There is hope for couples who have experienced infidelity, and that hope is increased when marriage mentors are involved. As a mentor, whether you have personally experienced infidelity or not, you can have an important role in helping couples heal their marriages after betrayal and brokenness.
• MMT 109: Creating Safe Haven MarriagesWhat is it that makes married couples feel attached and close to one another? Our ability to connect with people goes all the way back to our childhood. Based on the study of intimacy, we can begin to understand attachment styles that will lead us to establishing that deeper emotional relationship with our spouse. This lesson will discuss the concepts behind a safe haven marriage and how you can implement them in your marriage and pass them on to your mentorees.
• MMT 110: Marital Forgiveness and ForbearanceWhat is forgiveness? Certainly forgiveness is a part of spiritual intimacy, but how can spouses truly forgive one another for every transgression? Forgiveness is an act, a process, and a journey that takes constant work in marriages and within oneself. In this lesson, we will discuss forgiveness in its many manifestations and how to better model forgiveness for your mentorees.

Continuing Education

10.0 CE Credits available for IBCC Credential Holders.
